New Hampshire and Vermont
VT Route F-5

Yes, that is the route "number", F-5. This number is the last survivor of a
series of routes F-1 through F-10 that went to Lake Champlain ferries.

Shortest State Route?

Two shots down the length of Vermont Route 26, which I contend is the shortest
state route. It goes from the VT/NH state line (vertical green sign at
end of bridge) to its end at VT 102. It's 0.01 miles long according to the
route log, or about 53 feet. Unfortunately, no VT 26 route signs are posted.
This shows the whole length of VT 119, about 400'. I'm standing about at
the VT-NH border when I shot this. The second picture shows a close-up of
a rather confusing mass of signs, inclusing the only VT 119 sign in this
direction, the END sign. This is a contender for the shortest posted
state route.
