Massachusetts
Ugly!

A rather sorry-looking US 202 shield (New Salem, MA)
There are several "cut-out" US 3 shields (the type intended for a "big green
sign") on and near the freeway portion of US 3 in Massachusetts.
This sign on MA 68 must have been replaced during a budget crunch or something.
A few circle Mass. State Route signs exist. I wonder if Mass. switched to a
circle and switched back to a rectangle after a very short time.
The extra w-i-i-i-de shoulders of I-190 in Mass. This was done to protect
the Wachusetts Reservoir, a source of Boston's drinking water.
This never-used bridge, built in the late 1950s, was intended to carry the
southbound lanes of I-95 over US 1 in Revere, MA. The portion of would-be I-95
that was actually built (behind me here) became a freeway US 1.
What? (Fitchburg, MA)
Leominster Mass. sometimes uses a handy sign blank for other than its intended
purpose.

Many very old diamond warning signs still stand along Massachusetts
state routes.
