The route known
locally as the "Lowell Connector" is an older (late 50s/early
60s) 4 lane divided limited access highway that runs from US 3, crosses
I-495 and continues to a city street in Lowell just past MA 3A. It
has numbered exits running from 1 to 5C. It was once Business Spur 495,
and may still bear that as a hidden route number. Other than this forgotten
old "Business Spur 495" sign on a rusty post west of Exit 4 there are no signs whatsoever
assigning a number to it. I believe the exit off I-495 lists it as "Lowell
Connector".

The Lowell Connector bridge can be seen in the distance behind the sign The (modern) sign in the distance reads "TO {I-495} {US 3} NEXT RIGHT". The "JCT" sign is similar to what Massachusetts uses for its state routes except it has a period. It is probably an older style.
